Apartment Review for Sun King Apartments - Scottsdale, AZ

Here I go. This apartment complex is cheap, you really can't beat the price. But, that is all it has going for it. The apartments are small and poorly laid out. You would think that the apartments would be sound proof considering the cinder block walls, but you can hear your neighbors running water, tv, fighting, etc. The police are always there, whether it is a drug related o.d. (this happened, kids found the father) or whether it is the constant vandalism (cars and vending machines, mostly to the vending machines to be fair). If you have asthma, I would not recommend it. The cooling and heating ducts pulling in all your neighbors smoke into your apartment. It is very noticable and the Sun King does not have a no smoking policy. Plenty of parking, though you might have to hike a bit. The grounds are fairly well maintained. The a/c does not cool, but the heater is fine. It was really bad over the summer. A couple of weird things, you are required to shampoo your carpet and clean your apartment to an high high standard. They expect it cleaner than when you got it and they have huge fees. Ask for a copy of the fees sheet and make sure you write down every small thing that is wrong with the apartment when you move in. Amid the violence, vandalism, and poor quality apartment, my biggest complaint was the staff. The have to deal with so many evictions and crimes that they are on edge with everyone. They are particularly rude to younger people, I was treated fairly well, but I have seen them lecturing 18 to 24 crowd on more than three occasions. I couldn't believe what they said to a young lady on the day she was moving in. Overall, I would never recommend living here. If you are desperate to just move into an apartment, there are better deals with better service and if you have the means to rent an apartment $50 more expensive, do it, you won't regret it. Oh yah, the apartments directly on Thomas Rd are the worst, your bedroom window shakes when a big truck goes by.
