Apartment Review for Scottsdale Greens - Scottsdale, AZ

I never lived here, but my father did. At the end of Sept 2006, he died suddenly. Mgmt wouldn't let us in for 24 hours due to bio-cleanup crews -- understandable. After that, mgmt wouldn't let us in to his apt for "legal reasons" which were never explained to us, only blamed on their 'lawyers'. We needed paperwork to have him buried and needed to look for a will and they would not let us in. Finally after another day and a half of fighting, they said they would let "one" person in to look for "just the will" -- we're grieving, like that's not painful to go in by yourself. After standing outside the door for hours, they finally relented (thank you Arizona heat) and let us all in, my sister, mother and uncle. For the next nine days (the amt of time it took us to clean out the place), we were never allowed a key. We had to have the office open and lock up his apartment every day and be subject to office hours with a few exceptions. Most of the office staff was nice, BUT a few were EXTREMELY insensitive, with one girl even making a big deal about their "cookie delivery" while we sat, as a grieving family, in the lobby waiting to meet with the prop mgr who was late meeting us anyway. It seemed they just didn't care what we were going through until several days had passed and they finally saw and realized what we were going through. But everything was a fight or a battle, no one just gave us the access and space we needed, we had to ASK for everything and WAIT for them to come around and open or close my dad's apartment every single day. The employees who cared the most were the ones who didn't have much clout. The manangers and higher-ups presented obstacle after obstacle. Several tenants we talked to in the days while we cleaned out my dads apt expressed their distaste for the management, and I see why. They were very insensitive, and most sensitivity showed felt fake and was governed by what their "lawyers" told them to do. IN MY OPINION, I would NEVER rent from this place, they are all about money and could not care less about you as a person. This place has been redone to look so fancy in a not-so-fancy area of Scottsdale, don't let them sweet talk you into renting. They did not help us one bit, and they made our time of shock and grief even worse by having to fight with them every step of the way just to get into the apartment of our deceased father and do what we needed to do to clean it out. It was sickening and extremely uncaring and unprofessional. Our dad lived there from 1981-2006, being a longtime resident meant nothing.
