Apartment Review for Morningside Apartments - Scottsdale, AZ

Our ceilings started falling in from damage caused by a rainstorm in January 2010. The manager, Allison, wouldn't arrange for another place for us to live until we complained to the regional manager. They eventually patched the ceilings, but never painted it while we still lived there for the final 5 months! I first lived at Morningside in a 2BR and Shanette was the manager. She knew everyone by name and was very attentive and nice. She was the customer service that this complex no longer has. When I moved from the 2BR to a 3BR, my security deposit transferred and she told me I did a great job of cleaning it for move-out. When I moved out of the 3BR, I arranged for a walk-through inspection and Allison, the new manager, said it looked nice and that she wished others kept their apartments this clean. Two days later I received a bill for painting, cleaning, and carpet dyeing. They took nearly all of the security deposit away from me! She said they had to repaint the closet shelves and kitchen shelves. I asked her why she didn't tell me that during the walk-through and she said she really doesn't want tenants to paint!! How can I get a refundable deposit back for painting if painting isn't allowed?! She charged me for not cleaning the top, unfinished part of the kitchen cabinets up near the ceiling. She took nearly $300 to clean and dye the carpet. I took pictures through the window that day in desperation because I had turned in my keys during the walk-through when she told me it was good and clean! This place is more interested in collecting money, fair or not, then doing honest business with good tenants. Take notes, take pictures, and good luck. It's a shame, because this is a beautiful location and they have a very good maintenance staff.
